IRONWOOD -- Incumbent Ironwood City Commissioner Bob Burchell was somewhat shocked and humbled Tuesday when he became mayor by finishing as the top vote-getter in a 12-person field.
"It was kind of a surprise. You sit down and hypothesize what might happen, but you never really know for sure," Burchell said after the election. He received 677 votes, the top total, and by charter becomes mayor, a position he said he'll accept.
City voters also elected three newcomers -- Rick Semo, 608 votes; Will Lucius, with 571; and Kim Corcoran, 533 -- and incumbent Gemma Lamb, 494.
