IRONWOOD TOWNSHIP -- Kim Mattson retained her position as Ironwood Township supervisor in Tuesday's recall election by 64 votes, 458 to 394.
"Thank you for believing the truth and for all of the support," Mattson said in a prepared statement. "This recall election has polarized the township. In these difficult economic times, it is very important we overcome these obstacles and work together for the future of the township."
With 1,980 registered voters in the township, 43.8 percent -- 852 -- cast their ballots in Tuesday's recall election.
A total of 1,394 voters cast their ballots in the 2008 presidential election.
Election worker Kris Bennetts said there was a steady stream of voters throughout the day, with people waiting for the polls to open at 7 a.m.
