DUNBAR, Wis. -- The Lady Samsons pulled away in the second half to beat Northland Baptist Bible College 68-41 Tuesday night.
Gogebic Community College led 27-20 at halftime. It went to a man-to-man defense in the second half, and the Lady Samsons were more patient on offense.
"It was nice to go into the Lindquist Classic with a victory," GCC coach Stephanie Byrns said of the home tournament set for Saturday and Sunday.
Jaclyn Aijala led Gogebic with 26 points, six steals and six rebounds.
"Jaclyn played a great game for us," Byrns said.
Terressa Leinon had 12 points and five rebounds for the Lady Samsons. She was able to get open in the post, Byrns said.
Laura Hartzog had 10 points and six steals.
"Laura is playing great defense for us, harassing their ballhandlers," Byrns said. "Kate Klinzing also came off the bench and gave our offense some added spark, scoring 10 points in the second half."
