IRONWOOD -- Jacquart Fabric Products of Ironwood made its mark at the White House this week when President Barack Obama's daughters, Malia and Sasha, received a new Rainbow Play Systems playset.
The canopy for the playset was manufactured at Jacquart's, which distributes its products internationally.
"It is truly an honor to have a product made here in Ironwood being used by the first family and, in fact, by families around the world," said Kari Jacquart, division manager for athletic and recreational products.
"Rainbow Play Systems is a world-class company, and we are proud to have been their exclusive canopy supplier since 2004," she said.
Bob Jacquart purchased the company that had the Rainbow contract, Midwest Canvas from St. Cloud, Minn., in October 2004.
Jacquart ran the regional canvas business and the Rainbow line for two years in St. Cloud.
He split the company and sold the regional canvas business in September 2006.
He then brought the Rainbow line back to Ironwood, equipment and all.
Shortly after its start-up in Ironwood, Jacquart credited three employees with the success of the Rainbow project.
"The reason we are able to do this is because of three people, Louie Jagla of Ironwood, Jim Harma from Kimball, and Rick Templer of Ironwood," Jacquart said.
"I brought a very complicated project back here and had great comfort in knowing these three guys would take this project and make it successful," he said.
