MERCER, Wis. -- A 45-year-old Mercer man was officially charged Wednesday with a felony count of manufacturing marijuana after members of the Gogebic-Iron Area Narcotics Team found marijuana plants growing in his North Mercer Lake Circle home.
Thomas C. Zeivel also faces misdemeanors of possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.
According to the complaint filed in Iron County Circuit Court on Wednesday, on July 23 GIANT members Lt. Tony Furyk, of the Iron County Sheriff's Department, and Hurley Police Sgt. Chris Colassaco found several marijuana plants in and around Zeivel's home, along with drug paraphernalia.
A marijuana plant that measured 51 inches tall by 26 inches wide was "in plain view in a white bucket against the outside wall of the home, about 15 feet from the door," the complaint said.
Officers found a clone plant in the porch, evidence from indoor marijuana growing in Zeivel's bedroom, three old marijuana plants that had been clipped and were in the hall closet, four pipes, and a baggie containing 2.6 grams of a green leafy plant material in the kitchen area, the complaint added.
A Sept. 22 court date has been set.
