| Mercer library decked out
MERCER, Wis. -- A mountain village lights up the Mercer Public Library for the holidays. Light shines warmly from small buildings, a skier glides down a hill and skaters circle a frozen pond in the busy Northwoods village.
Sandy Leidenheimer loaned the village to the library, where Friend of the Library Judy Bugni does the decorating. Pat Pape, Judy Ivey and Renie Lawrence helped set up the decorations. Bugni, who volunteers at the library on Saturdays and when staff are on vacation, asked Leidenheimer to leave the village up through the winter.
As word of the village has spread through town, the decorations have drawn people to the library, according to Bugni.
"Some people have stopped over that have never been in the library," she said Monday. "When they walk in the library, they don't see it. They go into the reading room. When they come back to the main desk, all of a sudden, they spy it."

Howdy from South Texas' San Antonio...
My good friend, Sandy Leidenheimer, forwarded the "Daily Globe" article about the winter village scene set up in Mercer's public library. I have been fortunate to twice visit Sandy and Tom (and Tom Sr.) at their home on Little Pike Lake. This winter village reminds me of the March visit I experienced...lots of snow and windows glowing with soft light. The Leidenheimers are D56 village collectors - can you tell I'm also a believer in the magic of the village(s)?
My compliments to the news staff.
