BESSEMER -- Bruce Allen Roper, 61, was recently sentenced to 13 to 22 years in prison by Gogebic County Circuit Court Judge Roy Gotham, after pleading guilty to first degree criminal sexual conduct against a child less than 13 years of age, according to prosecuting attorney Richard Adams.

Roper was given 185 days of jail credit.

"It has long been the habit of this court to avoid moral judgments," Gotham told Roper. "Considering the absolute devastation you caused to a young person (age 5 at the time of the incident), your perversion is the closest thing to fundamental evil that one human being can inflict on another human being. The suffering goes on and on."
