HURLEY, Wis. - Nadya (Anderson) Kangas, 73, died on Sept. 21, 2016, at Villa Maria Health and Rehabilitation Center in Hurley.
She was born Jan. 8, 1943, in Manchester, England, to Wolf and Isabella Heumann, and adopted by Richard and Thea Anderson in 1951.
Before cancer cruelly stole her ability to do the things she loved, she was widely known as an excellent cook, world traveler and wonderful conversationalist. To the end she was a fiercely devoted mother, mother-in-law and grandmother, as well as a loyal friend to many in Iron County, the Milwaukee area, and former classmates around the world.
She is survived by her daughter, Lori (Greg) Ahrenhoerster; her son, Steve (Amy Olson) Kangas; grandchildren, Cara, Travis and Mira Ahrenhoerster; sister, Karen (Rick) Lynch; and brother, Scott (Deborah) Anderson.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband, Dick.
We thank her for the delicious meals, pleasant discussions, and unconditional love.
A celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, Oct. 15, from 3 to 6 p.m., at the Iron Belt Community Center. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Iron Belt Scholarship Fund, PO Box 40, Iron Belt, WI 54536, are appreciated.
