    By JAN TUCKER [email protected] ONTONAGON – Carl Nykanen, Ewen, was elected the new Ontonagon County Commission Board Chairman for a two year term, at the commission reorganization meeting Wednesday. Nykanen, who has served on the board for six years, replaces John Pelkola, Trout Creek, who was defeated in the November election by one vote. John Cane, Ontonagon, was reelected Vice Chair.     By RICHARD JENKINS [email protected] BESSEMER — Gogebic County Circuit Judge Michael Pope denied a motion Tuesday filed by John Raymond Davis’ appellate attorney to allow Davis to withdraw his guilty plea in the Sunset Road meth lab case. Davis, 42, was sentenced to a minimum of 10 years in prison in July on charges of operating/maintaining a meth lab and conspiracy to maintain a meth lab.
