IRONWOOD - "Snowmobile racing in the 1970s was huge in Ironwood," said Tom Auvinen, Gogebic County Fair Board member and Snowmobile Olympus organizer, "but in the 1980s it started to disappear, so now we are trying to bring it back." WITTENBERG, Wis. - Lucy (Marchello) Benetti, 94, passed away Saturday, Jan. 4, 2014, at Homme Home Nursing Home in Wittenberg. She was born in Bessemer, Mich., on July 1, 1919, to John and Silvia Marchello. On June 4, 1947, she was married to Dante "Doc" Benetti at St. Sebastian Catholic Church in Bessemer.
