IRONWOOD - Wolverine Nordic Trail system recently added three new snowshoe trails to the already existing Hospital Loop. "Many don't know about the new snowshoe options that are available," said Wolverine board member Dennis Spaete. WAKEFIELD, Mich. - Victor Eugene Hanson, 86, a lifelong resident of Wakefield, passed away Thursday, Jan. 8, 2015, after a brief illness. Victor was born on March 31, 1928, in Wakefield, a son of Hans Victor and Lydia A. (Thompson) Hanson. He attended Wakefield Schools. WAUWATOSA, Wis. - Gustave "Otto" Nurmi, 91, passed away in Wauwatosa on Christmas evening 2014. Born June 6, 1923, in Nestoria, Mich., a small U.P. railway village, to his father, John Nurmi, a railroad worker and mother, Maria, he was the youngest of nine children. After his father's death in 1929, the family moved to Ironwood's Norrie Location, where Otto would continue to live for most of his life. SIDNAW, Mich. — Vivian I. “Sassie” Kennedy passed away quietly in her home in Sidnaw, with her children by her side on Jan. 7, 2015. She was 100 years old and had lived in her home on the banks of Lake 13 for 69 years. Vivian was born March 19, 1914, in Coldwater, to Alfred and Genevieve (Walker) Teachout.
