IRONWOOD - Newborn Sara Esther Bilc surprised her parents by arriving one month early, on Jan. 4, instead of Feb. 4. On Thursday, her parents, Esther and Andrei Bilc, of Ironwood, were further surprised to learn their only daughter was the first baby born in the area in 2015. "That is very neat," Esther said. DULUTH, Minn. — Jane E. Cvengros, 83, of Wakefield, Mich., former longtime Erwin Township, Mich. resident, died Tuesday, Jan. 13, 2015, at St. Mary’s Medical Center in Duluth, Minn. She was born Nov. 27, 1931, in Ironwood Township, Mich., daughter of the late August and Lillian (Manninen) Kangas. On Aug. 8, 1953, she was united in marriage with Donald S. RINDGE, N. H. - Edwin I. Reini, 85, of Rindge, died on Monday, Dec. 22, 2014, at the Good Shepherd Healthcare Center after a period of failing health. Edwin was born Oct. 9, 1929, in Bessemer Township, Mich., son of the late Waldemar and Katherine (Alavarvi) Reini. He was a graduate of Luther L. HURLEY - The Hurley Midgets picked up their fourth win in their last five games, 67-54 over Mellen Thursday. The Granite Diggers led 48-47 going into the fourth quarter where the Midgets outscored them 20-6. "Ugly, but we came out on the good side," Hurley coach Mike Swartz said.
