The budget had originally included a 25-cent raise, however, the board voted 10-2 to raise that amount to 50 cents. Board members Opal Roberts and Ken Saari voted against the measure. BESSEMER — A Wakefield man is in custody after being accused of being involved in a home invasion and several car break-ins in the city of Bessemer last week. Troopers from the Michigan State Police’s Wakefield Post were dispatched to the scene of an alleged home invasion in Bessemer on Nov. 6. A home and a car had both been entered, according to a MSP news release, where two purses and roughly $245 were allegedly stolen. DULUTH, Minn. - William Edward Allen Holst, 93, of Ironwood Township, Michigan, passed away peacefully at St. Mary's Hospital in Duluth, on Nov. 4, 2020. He was born on June 10, 1927, son of Oscar and Ida (Berg) Holst. He attended A.L. Norrie School and graduated from Luther L. Wright High School in Ironwood, Michigan, in the class of 1945. Stevens, 66, of Marengo, Wisconsin, passed away on Tuesday, Nov. 10, 2020, at the St. Mary’s Medical Center in Duluth, due to complications of IPF — idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis. He was born on April 14, 1954, in Ashland, Wisconsin, the son of Ernest and Lillian (Mackey) Stevens. Mark graduated from Ashland High School in 1972.
