HURLEY - Veterans, students and community members gathered to celebrate a belated Veterans Day on Friday morning at the Hurley K-12 School. After the Hurley VFW Post 1580 presented the colors, led by post commander Ron Zaleski, the Hurley high school band played the National Anthem. IRONWOOD - The Ironwood snow total since Monday climbed to 37.7 inches on Friday. The 7 a.m. Friday 24-hour reading was 7.2 inches at the Gogebic-Iron Wastewater Treatment Plant off Cloverland Drive. That followed three consecutive 24-hour periods of 10-inch snowfalls in Ironwood, as a total of 30.5 inches had been recorded since Monday and for a change, there was no snow after Friday morning. ANVIL, Mich. - Gladys Marie Tauer, 78, a longtime resident of Anvil, passed away peacefully Thursday, Nov. 13, 2014, with her loving family by her side. Gladys was born on Nov. 17, 1935, in Anvil Location, Bessemer, the daughter of the late Domenic and Albertina (Callovi) Chiapuzio. She attended Anvil and Ramsay grade schools and graduated from A.D. STILLWATER, Minn. - Just before midnight on Nov. 9, 2014, the earthly life of Doris Marie Ericson Krell came to an end in Stillwater, Minnesota. Our mother Doris had just celebrated her 95th birthday after a long and full life. As one of two daughters of Swedish immigrants to America, Doris was the child of Ellen Gustafson Ericson and Raynold Leonard Ericson.
