Mapes Criminal Patrol and Investigation Award, including a local trooper. Tpr. Alexander L. Sackmann of the Wakefield Post received this award which is only given to the top 5 percent of troopers in each district who look “past the traffic stop.” Sackmann made 11 felony arrests in 2018 that met the criteria for this award. KENTON, Mich. - Arthur "Artie" Verner Johnson, 74, passed away unexpectedly at his home in Kenton, on Jan. 24, 2019. He was born on March 30, 1944. Artie loved being outdoors riding his four wheeler and partridge hunting. He enjoyed being around his friends having a drink at the local pub and playing his machine.
