    IRONWOOD TOWNSHIP -- The township board of trustees approved a four year plan to improve several of the most deteriorated roads in the township at Monday's meeting. The plan would have the township use funds generated from the township's millage to participate in the Gogebic County Road Commission's match program, which allows the township to receive 40 percent of the projects funding from the commission.   • Emery honored for role in city fall deer hunt

    IRONWOOD - The Ironwood City Commission honored Department of Natural Resources law enforcement officer Grant Emery, of Bessemer, Monday for his role in thinning the deer herd in the city. Ironwood has conducted bow hunts in the city for the past nine years and Emery has been instrumental in the "implementation and development" of the city bow hunt, noted city clerk Karen Gullan.   • GTAC deal is a bad one for Iron County, residents

    To the Editor: It would take pages to address the reasons Iron County should not agree to the lease option extension drafted January 23rd by GTAC’s lawyers. Here are a handful: 1. The lease is a bad deal for taxpayers. Iron County gets virtually nothing for well over 3,000 acres of land that is absolutely essential to a mine.
