IRONWOOD TOWNSHIP -Seventy-five snowshoers gathered on a sunny Saturday morning at Wolverine Ski Trail to participate in the annual Yooperbeiner Snowshoe Race/Tour. The day featured a 5k and 10k race as well as a 1.2k race for children 12 and under. HURLEY - It was Laskiainen on Sunday, the Finnish mid-winter sliding festival at Little Finland. A custom in Finland, the sliding festival typically starts seven weeks before Lent and is filled with winter activities and food. The celebration at Little Finland on Sunday was a few hours of socializing and delicious food. MERCER, Wis. - James J. Lambert, 72, of Mercer, passed away peacefully on Feb. 19, 2015, at home with his family surrounding him. Jim was born Oct. 17, 1942, in Lockport, Ill., the son of Daniel and Alvina (Rodeghero) Lambert. He graduated from Lockport High in 1960. In 1964, Jim married the love of his life, Sharon.
