WAKEFIELD — Following a meeting with potential City Manager Jason Laumann, the Wakefield City Council Friday made changes to the contract Laumann was offered. Prior to the council meeting, Mayor Joe DelFavero said Laumann received a phone call and had to leave to tend to a family emergency. VENTURA, Calif. — William Frank Kurta, 73, of Ventura, passed away at home on March 16, 2016, surrounded by loved ones after a long eight-year battle with cancer. Bill was born April 3, 1942, to parents Frank William Kurta and Alice Rowe Kurta. After his wonderful birthmother’s passing in 1944, he was raised by his father and loving stepmother, Josephine Kurta. WAKEFIELD, Mich. - Elaine Frances Greeno, 88, of Ewen, died March 31, 2016, at the Gogebic Medical Care Facility in Wakefield due to complications from Alzheimer's. She was born on Dec. 26, 1927, daughter of the late Joseph and Frances (Kipping) Fencil. She attended and graduated from Ewen High School in 1945. On June 7, 1947, she married Edward F.
