IRONWOOD - Construction of Ironwood's Safe Routes to School project has begun on Curry Street. Ironwood City Manager Scott Erickson said sidewalks will be improved and new sidewalks will be installed in an effort to improve students' safety. "The goal of Safe Routes is to increase pedestrian safety around Luther L. Wright," he said. Lake and Park streets are also part of the project. IRONWOOD - Enbridge Pipelines conducted hands-on training exercises for employees Tuesday outside Tacconelli's Down Towne restaurant in Ironwood. Scott Paquette, an Enbridge employee who lives in Bessemer, explained it was "confined space entry" training, simulating what might happen when employees respond to a pipeline emergency. PORT LAVACA, Texas - David Karl Brach, 75, of Port Lavaca, passed away on July 7, 2015, after a five-year battle with cancer. David was born on Aug. 2, 1939, to the late David and Elaine (Novascone) Brach in Bessemer, Mich., and was married to Judith (Hedberg) Brach in Bessemer on Aug. 22, 1959. David was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1959 and served in Korea.
