The city commission met in closed session at the end of Monday’s regular meeting. After the closed session, the commission adopted a retirement succession plan. The posts are starting to show signs of their age and are in need of a fresh coat of paint. The booster club has been trying to raise $32,100 to have all the posts painted and sealed for nearly two years, but is still $15,000 shy of that goal and time is running out on the bid. Helen was born on Nov. 21, 1929, in Ironwood Township, the daughter of Onni E. and Ida Mary (Sillampaa) Savonen. She attended Roosevelt Junior High School and graduated from Luther L.
