  • Art Park dedicated at Festival Ironwood

    IRONWOOD — Many of the 118 people who donated to Ironwood's new Art Park attended the Friday afternoon ribbon-cutting ceremonies on Aurora Street. Jen Tucker, a community assistance specialist with the Michigan Economic Development Corporation, presented Ironwood Community Development Director Michael Brown with a plaque on the occasion. The city received a $10,000 grant through MEDC to develop the Art Park after more than $15,000 was pledged locally toward the effort.     NAPLES, Fla. — Charles “Wes” Berkoben, 95, of Naples, and Mercer, Wis., passed away peacefully at Avow Hospice on March 25, 2015, surrounded by his loving family and friends. He has now happily rejoined his wife, Lois, of 65 years and leaves his five children, Nancy, Russell, Robert, Jeanne, Susan and their families. Since 1973, Dad and Mother spent many summers in Mercer on Fisher Lake, and their winters in Naples.     RAMSAY, Mich. — Clem Chlebowski, 76, of Ramsay died on Wednesday, July 15, 2015, at U.P. Health Systems in Marquette after a brief illness. Clem was born on Sept. 30, 1938, in Wakefield, the son of the late Louis and Carmen Chlebowski. He married the former Carol Kaseno of Bessemer on Aug. 20, 1960. Clem worked for the U.S. Forest Service until his retirement in 1994. He enjoyed deer hunting, trapping, playing old-timers softball and attending his granddaughter's activities.
