    WATERSMEET - A washed out culvert has caused the U.S. Forest Service to close Forest Road 3340 at the intersection of Old U.S. 2 and intersection FR 3346 in Watersmeet. According to a press release issued by the Ottawa National Forest, the road has been barricaded and visitors to the forest are reminded to adhere to any road closures for safety reasons.   • Trailhead work bee planned for Saturday

    HURLEY - With the snow melted and spring here, Iron County Outdoor Recreation Enthusiasts is planning a work bee at the Hurley trailhead near the Montreal River Saturday. The cleanup will begin at 1 p.m. and will include planting trees, clearing the trail, picking up any litter that accumulated over the winter, starting a native plant garden, staining benches and other projects to beautify and improve the trailhead between the local motorized and non-motorized trails.     IRONWOOD — The Gogebic Community College Board of Trustees held a special meeting on Thursday to hire a new baseball coach and change a couple position titles. According to a press release issued by the college, Steven Barnes was approved by the board as the new baseball coach starting immediately. Barnes holds a Bachelor of Science in physical education and has coached a variety of sports over multiple years.
