DULUTH, Minn. - Dennis C. Nolan, 75, of Duluth, passed away peacefully at home on May 19, 2016. He was born Dec. 24, 1940, in Ironwood, Mich., to Clarence and Garnet Nolan. After graduating from J.E. Murphy High School in Hurley, Wis., he enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served honorably for three years. He worked for American Motors, later Chrysler, for nearly 40 years, retiring in 2001. MARSHFIELD, Wis. — Albert Louis Peterson, 77, died on May 18th, 2016 at Saint Joseph’s Hospital in Marshfield. He was born in La Forge on April 18, 1939, to George and Mabel (Heyman) Peterson. The family relocated to Watersmeet, Mich., where Al attended public school and graduated in 1957. He was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1961 and served until 1963. HURLEY - The city of Hurley overcame a major hurdle in bringing a grocery store to the city as it was one of six communities to receive a Community Development Investment Grant from the Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation. BESSEMER — A Bessemer woman was sentenced to probation and community service in Gogebic County Circuit Court Thursday on the charge of third degree attempted home invasion. Evalyn Marie Juntti, 50, of Bessemer was sentenced to 18 months probation and 30 days in jail, although Judge Michael Pope said she wouldn’t serve additional jail time if she performed 32 hours of community service each month while on probation.
