Wednesday was the first day of winter and that means daylight begins to increase every day. A $45,000 Recreation Passport grant was announced Tuesday for Lake Superior beach walkway lighting renovations. The money will allow renovations to install new, more durable lamp poles with energy-efficient, dark-sky compliant LED lamp fixtures, the DNR said.
