HURLEY, Wis. - The students of the Northwoods Manufacturing program at the Hurley K-12 School opened their doors on Thursday for the first public event at the wood and metal shop since the $1.3 million building expansion dedication in the fall of 2019. EWEN - A Thursday Evening of the Arts at Ewen-Trout Creek School welcomed an appreciative audience, starting with a highly colorful art show and ending with a concert encore and a standing ovation. BESSEMER, Mich. - Lloyd G. Hill, 94, a lifelong resident of Bessemer, passed away Wednesday, May 12, 2021. He was born on Dec. 18, 1926, in Bessemer, son of the late Oscar and Edith (Reed) Hill. Lloyd attended the Barber School in Yale and the Washington School in Bessemer. He graduated from A.D. Johnston High School. After graduation, Lloyd worked various jobs. Dave was born Jan. 12, 1957, in Ironwood, son of the late Robert and MaryEllen (Jelich) Usitalo. Dave graduated in 1975 from Luther L. BESSEMER, Mich. – Doris M. Scavarda, 89, a longtime resident of Bessemer, passed away Wednesday, May 19, 2021. Doris was born on April 24, 1932, in Milwaukee. She attended A.D. Johnston High School in Bessemer and graduated in 1951. Doris worked for Ray Barbacovi and Art Stancher at the HiWay 2 Super Valu in Bessemer for more than 20 years.
