IRONWOOD - Ironwood's youngest students celebrated the end of the school year with a special reward during recess on Tuesday as they got to tie District Superintendent Tim Kolesar to the playground equipment with streamers as a reward for good behavior. IRONWOOD — Even though the the Ironwood Area School District won’t be offering a traditional summer school, several teachers will be volunteering to continue offering math and reading lessons for students to try and ensure that the students don’t backslide and lose knowledge over the summer. ASHLAND, Wis. - Jean L. Culligan, 76, of Ashland, passed away on Monday, June 1, 2015, at Memorial Medical Center in Ashland. She was born Jan. 2, 1939, in Painesdale, Mich., the daughter of Clarence and Lucille (Luoto) Pakkala. Jean attended A.D. Johnston High School in Bessemer, Mich., and Wisconsin Indianhead Technical College in Ashland, where she studied to be an office assistant.
