    WAUSAU, Wis. - I, John D. Nordberg, passed away peacefully at the Aspirus Wausau Hospital on Thursday, June 2, 2016. I was born on July 22, 1930, in Ashland. My father passed in July of 1945, leaving me to be the man of the house at 15 years old. I was the oldest of five children so I took on the responsibilities for the farm my family owned.   • Rick charged with murder, arson in Bear Trap blaze

    HURLEY - A Saxon, Wis., man has been charged with murder and arson in the March 12 fire that destroyed the Bear Trap Inn in Saxon, resulting in the death of Lisa Waldros. Donald Rick, 44, who resided on Church Street at the time of the fire, is scheduled to appear in Iron County Court on the charges next Monday at 1:45 p.m. He told investigators that he stabbed Waldros in burglarizing the tavern, then burned the building in an attempt to make it look like she had died in the fire.     BESSEMER - After offering Daniel Wendt, of Monroeville, Ohio, the city manager position in May, the Bessemer City Council announced Monday the candidate has rejected their offer. After interviewing eight of 28 applicants, the council agreed to offer him the job during a May 23 meeting. The council agreed offer him a first-year salary of $50,000 and a list of benefits.     IRONWOOD, Mich. - Reino W. Suliin, 74, of Ironwood, died Saturday, June 4, 2016, in Ironwood. He was born Jan. 18, 1942, in Ironwood, the son of the late Walter and Hulda (Maki) Suliin. He graduated from Luther L. Wright High School in Ironwood. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy on March 30, 1962. He served during the Vietnam War in Okinawa and was honorably discharged on March 19, 1965.
