    MILWAUKEE, Wis. - The seven winners of HIT Idol performed with American Idol finalist Naima Adedapo at Milwaukee's Summerfest Saturday, the culmination of a journey that began last November when Adedapo promised the HIT Idol winners they would accompany her during her Milwaukee performance.   • Why do people purposely hurt or kill animals?

    Letter to the Editor: I have often wondered over the years why people purposely hurt or kill animals. For example, the moron who drove off U.S. 51 onto the shoulder by the Gile Flowage to drive through and kill a family of geese. Those same two geese have been coming to the location for years. Now they are all dead, but one. Or like the individual who ran over and killed our family cat on Stateline Road in Kimball.     BESSEMER-The big Bessemer Blast 50/50 jackpot of $30,494 has officially been claimed by a Hurley resident. The lucky winner of the the grand prize was Ironwood native Janelle Worthington with ticket number 33820.     ANN ARBOR, Mich. - Jack Ralph Pumala, 92, passed away at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital in Ann Arbor on July 1, 2015. Jack was born on Dec. 22, 1922, in Ironwood, to Matt and Emelia (Pahkamaki) Pumala. On March 28, 1944, Jack married the love of his life, Irene Samuelson, in Kansas, and they shared 61 years together. Jack served in the U.S. Air Force during World War II and was a member of the VFW.     EAU CLAIRE, Wis. - Lorenzo "Larry" Pasqualucci, 93, passed away with his family by his side at the home of his daughter in Eau Claire. Larry was born on Feb. 20, 1922, in Montreal, to Joseph and Mary Pasqualucci. He graduated from Hurley High School in 1940. He joined the U.S. Navy in 1942 to fight in World War II and served on an aircraft carrier, the USS Puget Sound, in the Pacific theater.     HURLEY — The former Hurley Inn, most recently operated as Resident Inn and Suites, will be sold at a sheriff’s sale at 10 a.m. on Aug. 11. According to a legal notice in the Iron County Miner, the property at 1000 Tenth Avenue North was foreclosed in Iron County Circuit Court on Feb. 10.
