    IRONWOOD — The city of Ironwood Planning Commission approved a request for proposals from planning consultants to initiate a new 20-year plan for the city, and will next get the request approved by the city commission, said community development director Michael Brown. Ironwood’s last 20-year plan was written in 1982, with updates in 2000, said Brown. The landscape and economy have changed since then, Brown said.     GREENLAND — The Ontonagon County Fair will close out July with a bang and a full schedule of events July 25-28. Animals, races, fast cars, kids games, beer and wine judging top the menu during the annual event. One of the newly organized events is the Jackie Strauch/Critter Ranch Memorial Speed Show presented by the Timber Trails Riding Club.     ONTONAGON — Aspirus Ontonagon Hospital, in conjunction with the Ontonagon Rotary and Hancock Rotary, are sending unused, outdated medial equipment to third-world countries. Dan Crane, of the Hancock Rotary, loaded the equipment into a van last week with the help of Aspirus employees Lynn Walters and Cindy Lonchar.     To the Editor: Reading the recent news about the behavior of the protesters at the open pit mine site near Upson, Wis., was very disheartening. These protesters should be ashamed of themselves. First off, look at the horrible example they set for young people. Threatening people and despicable, vulgar language are uncalled for.     WAKEFIELD — Gogebic Community Mental Health is hosting a training on Monday focusing on helping youth aged 12-18 facing mental health challenges or crises. Youth Mental Health First Aid introduces participants to the warning signs of mental health problems and risk factors for adolescents.
