    WAKEFIELD - The Wakefield City Council discussed the latest update with the Gogebic Range Solid Waste Management Authority Monday night. A meeting was held with the authority Thursday, in which it reduced the rate for all customers from $120 to $108 per ton. The new rate will be for a two-month trial period beginning Saturday.   • Board hires Keefer for JROTC post

    IRONWOOD — In a special meeting Monday, the Ironwood Area Schools Board of Education approved hiring Col. Sandra Keefer as the district’s senior army instructor for the district’s JROTC program. Keefer comes to the district with glowing recommendations, according to Superintendent Tim Kolesar. “(She’s done an) outstanding (job) in one of the most difficult staff positions in this command.
