MERCER - Spectators at the community baseball diamond in Mercer will soon have improved seating as they watch the ballgame as students in the Mercer technological education classes have been busy installing new bleachers at the park. WAKEFIELD - The Wakefield City Council heard updates on the Gogebic Range Solid Waste Management Authority, city blight properties and budget considerations, as well as made a final decision on a contract with the Gogebic County Sheriff's Department at a busy meeting Monday evening in front of a packed room. Saari, 84, a lifelong resident of Erwin Township, Ironwood, Mich., died Sunday, May 10, 2015, at Essentia Health St. Mary's Medical Center Hospice in Duluth, with her loving family by her side. MARSHFIELD, Wis. - Richard "Rich" Hoffmann, 61, of Mercer, passed away April 26, 2015, at St. Joseph's Hospital in Marshfield, with his family by his side. He was born on Jan. 22, 1954, in Chicago. IRONWOOD, Mich. — Frank “Hub” Holevac, 98, of N10305 Sunset View St. in Bessemer, died Thursday, May 7, 2015, in Ironwood. He was born Feb. 10, 1917, in Anvil, son of the late Marc and Manda (Komadina) Holevac. Frank attended local schools, graduating from A.D. Johnston High School in Bessemer in 1934. He began employment with Pickands Mather Company on Aug. 8, 1935. ONTONAGON, Mich. — Doris Marguerite Stripe, 96, of Ontonagon, passed away Feb. 28, 2015, at the Aspirus Ontonagon Hospital Long Term Care Unit. Born Oct. 15, 1918, daughter of De Marguerite and Earl H. Sieweke, she grew up in Riverside, Ill. She had a long life, blessed with family, career, volunteer work and travel.
