To the Editor: As of August 2013, there are 16,988 school groups recycling ink and laser jet cartridges and cellphones through the Funding Factory program. WOAS-FM joined this program to recycle items on behalf of the Ontonagon Area Schools in 1998. Currently, WOAS-FM ranks 308th on this list in terms of the number of qualifying units recycled. DETROIT — Rebecca Swett successfully defended her doctoral thesis in the chemistry department at Wayne State University in Detroit on July 23. Swett’s successful defense of her thesis, “Computational Approaches for Anti-toxin Therapies and Biomarker Identification,” earned her a Doctor of Philosophy degree.
