HURLEY, Wis. — Louise A. Bolich, 95, Ironwood, passed away peacefully on Aug. 3, 2015, at Villa Maria Health and Rehabilitation Center, in Hurley, from complications attributed to Alzheimer’s. She was born Aug. 18, 1919, to Raymond and Florence (MacDonell) Dick in the same home which she resided in the majority of her life on Junet Road in Ironwood. Louise graduated from Luther L. IRONWOOD, Mich. - Roger George Kuula, 74, passed away Aug. 4, 2015, at Westgate Nursing Home, in Ironwood, after a lengthy illness. Roger was born March 23, 1941, in Hurley, Wis., to Eino and Rauha (Salli) Kuula. He was preceded in death by his parents, Eino Kuula and Rauha Ylitalo; a sister, Patricia Pesavento; and a brother-in-law, Val Pesavento. WAKEFIELD — A second installment of the U.P. Women’s Author Tour was held Thursday evening at the Wakefield Municipal Building. Presented by the Wakefield Public Library, two authors, Beverly Matherne and Julie Buckles, read aloud some of their work and discussed with community members. HURLEY - The weekend of events surrounding the 47th annual Paavo Nurmi Marathon began Friday as registration for the marathon - today from Upson to Hurley - was held at the Hurley K-12 school. Along with registration, Friday also featured the first two races of the weekend, a one-lap race around the track for kids, followed by a mile-long run.
