    IRONWOOD  — Ironwood started the tennis season with a 5-2 victory over Phillips in Hurley and Ironwood Wednesday. The Red Devils swept the singles matches and Ironwood’s No. 2 doubles took the other victory. Senior Katie Piispanen and rookie freshman Kristine Mieloszyk both won 6-0, 6-0.     HURLEY, Wis. — Eva Saari, 92, of Hurley, died peacefully Sunday, Aug. 18, 2013, in Hurley. She was born Oct. 1, 1920, in Gile, daughter of the late Edward and Felemin (Gamache) Brunelle. Eva attended Gile, Carey and Hurley schools. She was married to Paul Saari on June 22, 1940, at the Finnish Lutheran Church by the late Rev. Hervi. Paul preceded her in death on May 31, 1998.     IRONWOOD, Mich. — Julia Elgeness, 97, formerly of Ramsay, died Monday, Aug. 19, 2013, in Ironwood. She was born March 23, 1916, in Ramsay, daughter of the late Michael and Rosa (Ujsasi) Pinter. She was married to Alf Elgeness. He preceded her in death on July 22, 1957. Julia is survived by two nieces, Janet Tusa and Janice Butkze, of Minnesota; a nephew, Edward Jiongo, of Texas; and special friends, Norman (Bonnie) Hongisto, of Wakefield.
