BESSEMER - Despite the rain, the annual Marty's Goldenaires Drum and Bugle Corps' town picnic was held on Saturday afternoon at Bluff Valley Park. Picnic goers stayed dry beneath the tents while being treated to a number of festivities, including kids games, a bake sale and hourly raffles. Raffle prizes were donated by local businesses. DULUTH, Minn. - Steven J. Leiphart, 79, of Ironwood, Mich., went peacefully home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus on Saturday morning, Aug. 20, 2016, at Essentia Health St. Mary's Medical Center in Duluth, with his loving family by his side. He was born April 9, 1937, in Munising, Mich., son of the late Janel and Jula (Zych) Leiphart, and graduated from high school in Newberry, Mich., in 1955. The Gogebic-Ontonagon Medical Control Authority has received a grant from the state of Michigan that will allow six additional automated external defibrillators be placed at various locations throughout the two counties.
