HURLEY - After a rainy start, Festivale Italiano went off without a hitch on Saturday afternoon in downtown Hurley, with more than 1,000 people attending the annual event. Rain caused the event to be delayed for 30 minutes, but according to Dorrene O'Donnell, executive director of the Hurley Area Chamber of Commerce, everything fell into place. DULUTH, Minn. - Gary F. Ruda, 66, of Saxon, Wis., died Thursday, Aug. 28, 2014, at Essentia St. Mary's Medical Center in Duluth. He was born July 20, 1948, in Hammond, Ind., the son of Frank and Virginia (Holoffe) Ruda. Gary graduated from Lincolnway High School in New Lenox, Ill., in 1966. He served in the U.S. Army from June 27, 1968, to April 7, 1970, obtaining the rank of specialist 4th class and was a Vietnam veteran. IRONWOOD, Mich. - Grant Kingston Dieck, 76, joined his Lord Jesus Christ early Saturday morning on Aug. 30th, 2014. Grant died peacefully at home in Ironwood with his family at his side after a long, courageous battle with coronary disease and aggressive cancer. Chaz was born on Nov. 28, 1992, in Ironwood, the son of LeeRoy and Dale Anne "Dee" (Berg) Havenor. In his teenage years, he enjoyed fishing, hunting and trapping.
