    DAKAR, Senegal (AP) - A surge in Ebola infections in Liberia is driving a spiraling outbreak in West Africa that is increasingly putting health workers at risk as they struggle to treat an overwhelming number of patients. A higher proportion of health workers has been infected in this outbreak than in any previous one.     WAKEFIELD - Parents of young children had the chance Tuesday to have their children's car seats thoroughly examined by members of local law enforcement and other certified child passenger safety inspectors.     IRONWOOD - Preparations are underway for the fourth annual HIT Idol competition at the Historic Ironwood Theatre. Auditions are scheduled for Oct. 3-4 at the Historic Ironwood Theatre, and all young vocalists from throughout the Gogebic Range and northern Wisconsin are invited to audition.     ONTONAGON, Mich. — Roberta Marie (Johnson) Daniels, 79, of Bruce Crossing passed on Monday, Sept. 8, 2014. She has joined our father, her loving husband of 49 years, Edward George Daniels, who preceded her in death in 2006. Her sons call this her final vacation. Her final weeks of a multi-year fight to beat cancer were spent at Aspirus Long Term Care (LTC) in Ontonagon.     IRONWOOD TOWNSHIP — Dawn A. Osier-Brace, 81, of Ironwood Township, died Saturday, Sept. 6, 2014, at home. She was born Aug. 20, 1933, in Dallas, Iowa, daughter of the late Glen and Lena (Clatt) Nimrick. Her first husband, Everett E. Osier, preceded her in death on Sept. 2, 1996. She was then united in marriage with Robert Brace on Oct. 12, 2002, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Ironwood by Rev. Todd Frusti. Robert preceded her in death on July 7, 2012.     To the Editor, As a young girl growing up here in Gogebic County, I was involved in the local 4-H program raising animals to sell at the fair auction. It was how I and other members earned our spending money, afforded our first cars and purchased more animals to raise. Now as a mother, I have wanted my children to have that same experience, learning the responsibility of raising their own animal.
