MERCER, Wis. - The Mercer Tigers aren't just beating Indianhead Conference East Division teams, they refuse to lose a set. The Tigers swept Ironwood Thursday night in front of a big and loud crowd. The Tigers easily won the first game 25-8 and then outlasted Ironwood in two hard-fought matches to close it 25-22 and 26-24. MERCER, Wis. - September has been a month to remember for the Mercer School District. On Sept. 16, the district received its state report cards, and finished well, not only at the local level, but across Wisconsin, as well, with an average score of 80.5 out of 100. MINOT, N.D. (AP) - A Minot man believes his behemoth pumpkin may be the biggest ever grown in North Dakota. Danny Gates estimated that the giant pumpkin dubbed "Grace" weighs more than 1,600 pounds and is still growing. Gates said it was pollinated June 13 in a greenhouse west of Minot. The portly pumpkin began to grow so fast that change was actually visible by the hour, he said. "Oh, yes, it was pretty crazy," Gates told the Minot Daily News.
