HURLEY - The Hurley City Council finds itself in the enviable position of having a $600,000 grant to spend. At its regular monthly meeting on Tuesday, the council discussed the money with Jeff Seamandel, of MSA Professional Services, the city's engineering firm. WAKEFIELD, Mich. - John Stanley Johnson, 82, of Wakefield, passed away unexpectedly Wednesday, Oct. 15, 2014, at his home. He was born on Nov. 24, 1931, in Bessemer Township, a son of Stanley and Mary (Huhtala) Johnson. John attended the Wico and Wakefield Schools. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War, and was honorably discharged on Jan. 14, 1954. Angela was born on Sept. 19, 1974, at Pennock Hospital in Hastings, the daughter of Robert and Judy (Maurer) Garber. Angela attended Maple Valley High School, graduating in 1993.
