A double spring hit when ice left the Ontonagon River and the frost tubes on three highways thawed from the winter cold. The flow of the ice from the Ontonagon River has been celebrated annually since April 1, 1963, when ice heading down the Ontonagon River was caught at the M-64 bridge. Larry Gatlin and the Gatlin Brothers have been dazzling audiences for around 60 years. GILE, Wis. — Eugene J. Zani, 85, of Gile, passed away March 13, 2016, surrounded by his family. Eugene was born Nov. 15, 1930, in Gile to Joseph and Mary Zani. He graduated from J.E. FOWLER, Mich. — Paul J. Soyka, 84, of Fowler, passed away Wednesday, March 16, 2016, at home with family by his side. Paul was born Jan. 3, 1932, in Winegar, Wis., the son of Max and Nancy (Brandenburg) Soyka. He married Pauline Drazkowski on April 11, 1951.
