By KIM E. STROM MERCER - Hot soup on a cold day is just what the library ordered Friday in Mercer at the second annual "Soup for You" soup tasting and recipe sharing event. It was a full house and a good turnout similar to last year's event, said library director Teresa Schmidt. WASHINGTON, D.C. — Wisconsin Indianhead Technical College is among 150 schools nationwide competing for a $1 million Aspen Prize for Community College Excellence. The announcement came from Aspen on Tuesday. Only 15% of community colleges nationwide have been invited to apply. RHINELANDER, Wis. - Edward Caron, 94, of Rhinelander, passed away peacefully with family on Nov. 3, 2019. Edward was born in Watersmeet, Mich., on July 21, 1925. He was the son of Albert and Mathilda (Hill) Caron and a graduate of Watersmeet High School with the Class of 1943. Following graduation, he enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps and was deployed to the South Pacific during World War II. Upon returning from the war, he began his career as a brakeman with the Chicago North Western Railroad....
