  • Hurley chamber collects winter clothing

    HURLEY — Hurley area residents may drop off used winter clothing at the Chamber of Commerce office at 316 Silver St. for a Wisconsin Department of Tourism charity drive. The effort will continue through Jan. 3 and clothing may be dropped off from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Coats, sweaters, hats, mittens and other “gently used” warm clothing items are being collected to support local charities.     WAKEFIELD, Mich. - William F. Stratman, 94, a longtime resident of Wakefield, passed away Sunday, Nov. 29, 2015. He was born on May 10, 1921, in Bessemer, the son of Leonard and Lilly (Hardy) Stratman. Bill attended Bessemer schools and graduated from A.D. Johnston High School in 1939. Gilly was born on Nov. 6, 1922, in Bessemer, a son of Herman and Elizabeth (Gustafson) Erickson. He attended Bessemer schools and graduated from A.D. Johnston High School in 1942.
