    By LARRY HOLCOMBE [email protected] IRONWOOD — The Ironwood City Commission continued Monday taking steps to improve the city’s utility infrastructure, approving a $11.4 million grant to fully fund Phase 2 of the ongoing water treatment plant project.   • Ironwood Carnegie Library new restroom project continues

    By MEGAN HUGHES [email protected] IRONWOOD - The Ironwood Carnegie Library is in the middle of renovations, adding a main floor restroom, according to Library Director Lynne Wiercinski. "We are working on staying open as long as we can during construction. We have had to close for a couple days when it wouldn't be safe for patrons to be in the library while they were working," said Wiercinski. The three-day event normally takes place at the Porcupine Mountains Ski Area in Ontonagon, but it was moved this year due to inadequate snow at that site, which relies only on Mother Nature.     AUBURN, Mich. - Muriel Bernice Rostollan passed away Tuesday, Jan. 23, 2024, after a short stay at Auburn Fields Assisted Living and Memory Care, Auburn, Michigan. She had just turned 99 years old and had recently celebrated 78 years of marriage with the love of her life, Walter E. Rostollan, who became 100 years old last July.     MARENISCO, Mich. - Lorraine L. "Pud" Anderson, 99, a longtime resident of Marenisco, passed away on Wednesday, Feb. 7, 2024, at the Gogebic Medical Care Facility in Wakefield. Lorraine was born on Dec. 20, 1924, in Ashland, Wisconsin, a daughter of Reinhold and Laura (Rominske) Ryskey. She attended Roosevelt High School in Marenisco and graduated in 1943.     LAONA, Wis. - Jerome William Johnston, 83, passed away peacefully on Sunday, Feb. 4, 2024, in Laona. Jerome was born on April 16, 1940, the son of Howard and Germaine (Corcoran) Johnston.
