IRONWOOD - The Youth Drama Club, through the Ironwood Carnegie Library and Historic Ironwood Theatre, is participating in two performances this weekend of "Once Upon a Wolf," a new take on classic fairy-tales. PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) — Portland, Ore., police were told there was a chicken — and it was attempting to cross the road. In fact, the citizen who called the police non-emergency line on Monday evening reported the chicken’s efforts to cross a road in a north Portland neighborhood were bringing traffic nearly to a standstill. PORTAGE, Wis. - Ethel Juneveve Vizanko, 91, of Ironwood Township, Mich., passed away on Aug. 12, 2014, at Tivoli Skilled Nursing Facility. She was born on May 28, 1923, in Wakefield, Mich., the oldest daughter of the late Waino Mattson and Alma (Pintamo) Mattson. She attended a country school in Marengo, Wis. IRONWOOD, Mich. — Wilbert E. “Wibby” Haanpaa, 92, of Wakefield, died Tuesday, Aug. 12, 2014, in Ironwood on his 92nd birthday. He was born Aug. 12, 1922, in Ironwood, son of the late Erick and Fannie (Rajala) Haanpaa. He had resided in Ironwood Township for most of his life. On Oct. 4, 1947, he was united in marriage with Julia I. Haapala in Ironwood Township. She preceded him in death on March 15, 2012.
