Locally, the 2021 Red Kettle Campaign brought in $25,000, which is 50% of its 2020 earnings. The Salvation Army had a constant kettle at the Walgreens in Ironwood. Several volunteers manned the kettle from time to time. There was occasionally a manned kettle outside Walmart, thanks to the efforts of Dusty Boggs of Ironwood. There were 68 new COVID-19 cases in Gogebic County, 13 new cases in Ontonagon, 26 new cases in Baraga, 106 new cases in Houghton and three new cases in Keweenaw, for a total of 216 new cases in seven days.     ONTONAGON — The difficulty in finding substitute teachers on often short notice is a problem faced by many school districts. In an attempt to solve this problem in Ontonagon, the Ontonagon Area School Board this week decided to add to the staff a long-term substitute teacher.
