Roger was born June 3, 1933, in Whitehall, to Aldor and Minnie (Herman) Myren and raised on the family farm. After serving a four-year stint in the U.S. Air Force, he returned home and married his sweetheart and lifelong love, Mavis Olson, on Oct. 5, 1957, at South Beef River Lutheran Church in rural Osseo. The council agreed to pay $5,000 to Canadian National for the small parcel. Mayor Joe Pinardi praised city attorney Ray O’Dea for getting the railroad to come down on its original asking price of $22,000.
