    IRONWOOD, Mich. - George B. Wallis Jr., also known as "PA," 62, of Ironwood, died unexpectedly Sunday evening, Sept. 13, 2015, at home. He was born Dec. 5, 1952, in Ironwood, son of George B. Wallis Sr. and the late Mary Lou (Lopez) Wallis. He attended Hurley, Wis., schools and graduated from J.E. Murphy High School in 1972. He then served in the U.S. Navy for 10 years.     IRONWOOD, Mich. - Joseph G. Traczyk, 91, of Hurley, Wis., died Sunday afternoon, Sept. 13, 2015, at Aspirus Grand View Hospital in Ironwood. He was born Feb. 18, 1924, in Hurley, son of the late Joseph and Mary (Ryniewicz) Traczyk, and attended Hurley schools. He worked in area CCC camps and at the Iron County Lumber and Fuel Co. prior to enlisting in the U.S. Navy in 1943 and serving overseas during World War II. The 26.2 mile race around Sunday Lake began in foggy morning conditions that eventually cleared away to a perfect day for running. Hand cyclist Dean Juntunen, 55, of Mass City, negotiated 9 plus laps around the 2.8 mile route that circles Sunday Lake in 2:05:45. Located in the David G. Lindquist Student Center, the pool has been closed for repairs until further notice. GCC President Jim Lorenson told the Daily Globe in August the college board needs to determine if it’s financially advisable to spend money to keep it open.
