HURLEY, Wis. - Donald Traczyk, 86, of Hurley, passed away on Aug. 24, 2023, at Aspirus Ironwood Hospital after a three-year battle with three types of cancer. Don was born on Oct. 26, 1936, to Joseph and Mary (Renaiwicz) Traczyk of Hurley, and graduated from J.E. Murphy School in Hurley in 1956. WAKEFIELD, Mich. - Carl G. Makela, born April 15, 1923, in Wakefield, and died on Tuesday, Aug. 22, 2023, at the age of 100, at the Villa Maria Health and Rehabilitation Center in Hurley, Wisconsin. His parents were John and Maryann (Hill) Makela. Carl lived his entire life in Wakefield. He was married for 53 years to Catherine Gerovac Makela. She passed away in 2001.
