    To the Editor: It would take pages to address the reasons Iron County should not agree to the lease option extension drafted January 23rd by GTAC’s lawyers. Here are a handful: 1. The lease is a bad deal for taxpayers. Iron County gets virtually nothing for well over 3,000 acres of land that is absolutely essential to a mine.     GILE, Wis. - Organizers of the Hurley 4th of July fireworks held their second annual fundraising Snowshoe Extravaganza Saturday afternoon on the Gile Flowage. A total of 144 race participants showed up to take on the powder in their snowshoes.     HURLEY - The Iron County Board of Supervisors learned on Tuesday that mining company Gogebic Taconite was unable to make its lease payment for county property for its proposed mine site near Upson. County chairman Joe Pinardi told the board he learned the news after an Iron County Mining Impact Committee meeting last week.     HURLEY - A 30-year-old Juneau, Wis., man received an eight-year prison sentence Monday in Iron County Court for sexually assaulting a young child on several occasions. Brett Myhre was sentenced by Judge Patrick Madden, who also ordered eight years of extended supervision after completion of the prison sentence.
