HURLEY — The Hurley School Board will likely look at a possible $200,000 tax levy increase in the fall, according to district administrator Chris Patritto. Patritto told school board members Monday that as it stands now, the district would lose about $100,000 in state aid for the 2016-’17 school year. The figures are preliminary and the board won’t act on adopting the 2017 tax levy until the annual meeting in the fall. MARENGO, Wis. - A third person died in the floodwaters of Monday's storm in northern Wisconsin. The Ashland County Sheriff's Department said an 82-year-old man was found dead early Thursday in a pickup truck in the floodwaters of the Marengo River. HURLEY — The Iron County Forestry and Parks Department has reopened most of the county’s all-terrain vehicle trails. A violent lightning storm Monday evening caused flooding that washed out Iron County roadways, downed trees and severely damaged Saxon Harbor, where a man was found dead in his vehicle.
